Husain, in full Maqbool Fida Husain, Husain also spelled Hussain, (born September 17, 1915, Pandharpur, Maharashtra state, India—died June 9, 2011, London, England), Indian artist known for executing bold, vibrantly coloured narrative paintings in a modified Cubist style. He was one of the most celebrated and internationally recognized Indian artists of the 20th century.
